Columbus, Georgia – Authorities continue investigating a tragic incident at a Dollar General store in Columbus, where store manager Alexis Hill, 44, lost her life during an encounter that began over the purchase of $1.58 hamburger buns.

The case has drawn widespread attention across Georgia and the United States.

According to investigators, Jerome Willis, 33, entered the store on Victory Drive shortly after 10:00 a.m. to make the purchase.

Authorities said an interaction occurred at the checkout counter before Willis allegedly produced a f1r34rm and 0p3n3d f1r3, leaving Alexis Hill with critical injuries.

She was later pronounced d34d by the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities confirmed that one police officer sustained injuries and is expected to recover. Police K-9 Havoc also received injuries during the confrontation and underwent surgery. Officials reported that the dog is in stable condition.
