Lawrenceville, Georgia – Family members, friends, and community supporters gathered to honor the life of Dave Fiji, the 25-year-old groom who was remembered during an emotional funeral service days after a helicopter crash that occurred shortly after his wedding celebration in Dawson County, Georgia.

According to investigators, Dave Fiji, his bride Jesni Fiji, and helicopter pilot Nikhil Nargundkar departed from their wedding venue aboard a Robinson R66 helicopter on the evening of May 29. Minutes later, the aircraft crashed in a wooded area near Dawsonville, Georgia.
Dave Fiji and pilot Nikhil Nargundkar did not survive, while Jesni Fiji was rescued with injuries and continues her recovery.
During the funeral, Jesni Fiji delivered an emotional tribute to her husband, recalling the dreams they had planned together after meeting through their church community years earlier.
Family members described Dave Fiji as a kind, generous, and deeply faithful man whose positive spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Dave Fiji’s parents, George Fiji and Pheba Fiji, thanked relatives, friends, first responders, and supporters for the overwhelming compᴀssion shown to their family.
