Funeral service held for 1-year-old killed in Senatobia shooting
SENATOBIA, Miss. (WMC) – One-year-old Kohen Wiley was laid to rest Friday afternoon, nearly two weeks after he was sH๏τ and killed by a Senatobia police officer.
Nearly 300 people packed the church and most were wearing their blue to honor baby Kohen. The cartoon character Bluey was displayed on the casket and prominently throughout the sanctuary.
Flowers spelled out his name inside the church as well as 3 large posters with pictures of Wiley smiling. The service took place on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hosana Church in Pope, Mississippi.
Kohen Wiley was just one-year-old when he was sH๏τ and killed on June 14. After an alleged shoplifting call involving diapers.
On Thursday, protesters marched to demand the release of police body camera footage, Walmart security video and the transcript of the 911 call.
As of Friday, none of those materials had been made available to the public.
Action News 5 reached out to Walmart regarding information that the Senatobia Walmart was closed. The store remains open, according to the Director of Global Press Office.
Walmart provided the following statement: “We remain heartbroken by what happened at our store last Sunday. The safety of our ᴀssociates and customers is our top priority. We continue to work closely with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and defer additional questions to them.”
