āMy Son Was a Kind Boyā: Father of 17-Year-Old Louis, Beaten to Death in Narbonne, Speaks Out
Narbonne (Aude), Thursday, June 25.Ā Louis was found dying at a construction site in the city. Since then, people have begun paying tribute to him.
āI miss him, itās terrible.ā
Fighting back tears, Nicolas HervƩ spoke to BFMTV on Monday, June 29, about the death of his son, Louis.
The 17-year-old was beaten to death after being lured into an ambush in Narbonne (Aude). He was found unconscious at a construction site on June 20 before succumbing to his injuries on Tuesday, June 23.
Five young people, including three minors, have been formally charged and placed in pre-trial detention over the fatal į“ssault.
Nicolas HervƩ says he cannot understand the attack.
āMy son was truly a good boy. I donāt understand why there was so much hatred,āĀ he said through tears.
āMy son was a kind boy. He played the guitar, and I often took him fishing with me,āĀ he recalled.
āWhen he was younger, he wanted to become a YouTuber to do silly things. I told him no, but we created a fishing channel instead. He was always making music, and it always helped keep him grounded.ā
āI Asked Everyone for Helpā
A few months ago, Louis had been placed by his father into the care of Franceās Child Welfare Services (ASE).
āUntil he was about 16 and a half, I was able to manage his emotions. I could calm him down⦠Then I had to find another solution. I asked everyone for help. We tried placing him with his godfather, but it didnāt work,āĀ Nicolas HervĆ© explained.
Louisā aunt previously toldĀ Le Parisien:
āIt was his parentsā decision so that he could receive support and be surrounded by educators. Louis suffered from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), in a fairly severe form. He completed all of his schooling in a specialized educational insŃιŃution (ITEC). He needed to continue in a specialized facility as he prepared for adult life. But his parents were unable to find a suitable center willing to take him.ā
Nicolas HervĆ© also insisted thatĀ āno oneāĀ had informed him that his son was being subjected to violence where he was living.
Louis had reported an į“ssault involving multiple attackers on June 12, one week before his death.
āHe went to the police station to seek refuge, but he did not file a complaint. He didnāt want to because he feared retaliation,āĀ Nicolas HervĆ© said.
The Narbonne public prosecutor stated Thursday evening in a press release intendedĀ āto correct inaccurate information circulating in certain media outlets and on social mediaāĀ that:
āThe motive for the crime remains unknown at this stage. However, it can already be confirmed that it has absolutely no connection to any racial motive.ā
The prosecutor also added:
āThree of the suspects are known to Child Welfare Services (ASE), but none of them were placed in the same facility where Louis was living.ā
