According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Nolan Xavier Wells traveled to Horn Island with a group of friends on July 4.

Investigators said he did not return to the mainland with the group and was reported missing later that night.

Following a multi-agency search involving local, state, and federal responders, his b0dƴ was recovered near the island on July 6.

The official cause of death has not yet been released pending the final autopsy and additional testing.

During recent public appearances, Christine Wonsley and Elmore Wonsley, Nolan’s parents, said they still have unanswered questions about their son’s final hours.
