Mama June Shannon has undergone one of the most talked-about transformations in reality TV, leaving fans shocked at just how different she looks. The spin-off Mama June: Family Crisis, which first aired in 2017, followed the former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star as she battled her weight and life’s ups and downs.
The show, which ran for one season and nine episodes, documented her incredible 300-pound weight loss, going from 460 lbs to a size 4. While some applauded her efforts, others were quick to criticise, cementing Mama June’s reputation as one of reality TV’s most polarising stars.
In a candid Instagram post, June reflected on her journey, writing: “Never lose yourself. I’ve been [lost] over the years, been on top and hit rock bottom. [There are] rough days as it is. It’s not all peaches and rainbows.”

In recent years, she turned to semaglutide injections to help with her weight loss but later stopped the treatment, opting to focus on lifestyle changes.
“I haven’t took the sH๏τ since, like, December and [am] still maintaining and eating properly no matter where I’m at,” she said, adding: “You have to make it a lifestyle change.
“So I made the lifestyle changes, and I know I can move forward with the lifestyle changes.”
Despite her progress, Mama June has not shied away from controversy. She admitted: “Not judging anyone who’s on the weight loss sH๏τ because if you are then it’s fine, but I don’t take the weight loss sH๏τ anymore due to the fact that it is a stepping stone, but it’s not a fix-all, be-all.”
