| Messi and Inter Miami were honored by President Donald Trump for their success last season. |
At the invitation of President Donald Trump, Inter Miami visited the White House this morning. Accompanying the players were the coaching staff and several Inter Miami leaders, notably coach Javier Mascherano and the team’s co-owner, billionaire Jorge Mas.
At the White House, the Inter Miami players, coaching staff, and leaders, especially Lionel Messi, were warmly welcomed by President Donald Trump.

Regarding Messi, President Trump praised El Pulga extensively for his contributions to world soccer in general, as well as to American soccer and Inter Miami in particular.
In their first meeting, President Trump specifically praised Messi for his significant role in helping Inter Miami win the MLS Cup for the first time in history in the 2025 season.

He also mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo, revealing that his son (Barron) is a big fan of Messi and the Portuguese national team captain.
Before meeting Messi, President Donald Trump hosted Cristiano Ronaldo at the White House in late 2025. The Portuguese international and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez had an intimate meeting with Donald Trump during a trip to Washington D.C. in late November 2025.

Messi, the Argentinian star, has been invited to the White House twice. In January 2025, Messi received an invitation from then-President Joe Biden.
However, due to scheduling conflicts, Messi was unable to attend the event where he would be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States, by President Joe Biden.
According to Inter Miami’s schedule, coach Javier Mascherano’s team will play away against D.C. United on March 8th in Washington D.C. Prior to that, Inter Miami won their first MLS 2026 match, defeating Orlando City 4-2 on March 2nd, a game in which Messi scored a brace.
