TUCSON, Arizona — More than a month after Nancy Guthrie mysteriously vanished, a growing memorial outside her home continues to draw visitors — raising new questions about whether investigators may be quietly monitoring the site.

Nancy, 84, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, is believed to have been abducted from her home in Tucson during the early morning hours of February 1. Her disappearance has quickly become one of the most closely watched missing-person investigations in the country.

Outside the residence, neighbors and supporters have created a makeshift tribute filled with yellow flowers, handwritten notes, children’s drawings, and even an open letter addressed to the “kidnapper.”

The growing memorial has sparked speculation among some experts about whether authorities could be discreetly observing the area as part of the investigation.

According to Betsy Brantner Smith, a retired police sergeant and spokesperson for the National Police ᴀssociation, such monitoring would not be unusual in cases like this.

“They could have eyes on the memorial — we’re just not seeing it,” Smith said in comments to Fox News Digital. “Investigators may be keeping track of activity there even if cameras aren’t visible.”

In many abduction cases, law enforcement sometimes keeps watch over memorial sites in case a suspect returns to the scene or attempts to follow public reactions to the case.

For now, authorities say no suspect has been officially identified, and the search for Nancy Guthrie continues as investigators pursue multiple leads.
