Two foreign suspects who sH๏τ and killed one person and injured another in the center of Ho Chi Minh City were arrested by police while hiding near the Vietnam-Cambodia border.

On the afternoon of May 26th, the Ho Chi Minh City Police held a press conference to officially announce the investigation and arrest of the two foreign suspects involved in the shooting that resulted in one death and one injury in front of the Cee’f Seafood Restaurant (70 Truong Dinh Street, Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). Lieutenant General Mai Hoang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, chaired the press conference.

At approximately 10:10 PM on May 21st, the police received a report about a murder committed by two suspects using military weapons. At the scene, Lemalu Lorenzo Tovia (25 years old, Australian nationality) was sH๏τ twice and died instantly; Sauni Sam (27 years old, Australian nationality) was sH๏τ once, sustaining serious injuries and is receiving intensive treatment.

Immediately after the incident, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department directed the Criminal Police Department (PC02) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police to coordinate with professional units of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ben Thanh Ward Police to cordon off the scene and conduct a swift investigation of the suspects. Authorities also utilized the digital mapping system at the Ho Chi Minh City Police Command Information Center to map out the suspects’ movement routes and escape paths.

Less than 24 hours after the investigation, authorities identified two suspects: Vaa Vaa (born in 1999, Samoan nationality, the person who fired the sH๏τs) and Tafia Steve (born in 2003, Samoan nationality, an accomplice in the case), and quickly arrested them.

At the same time, the police also detained Nguyen Trong Nghia (24 years old, residing in Tay Ninh province) and seven others for investigation into the act of failing to report a crime and ᴀssisting the suspects in escaping.

The case is being further investigated by the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency, and related individuals will be prosecuted according to the law.
