Shreveport Unites to Honor the “Eternal Eight” in an Emotional Final Tribute

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — Family members, friends, community leaders, first responders, and hundreds of residents gathered in Shreveport to honor the lives of the eight children remembered as the «Eternal Eight,» whose lives were l0st during the tragic April 19 domestic violence incident that deeply affected the community.

The children were identified as Jayla Elkins, 3, Shayla Elkins, 5, Kayla Pugh, 6, Layla Pugh, 7, Markaydon Pugh, 10, Sariahh Snow, 11, Khedarrion Snow, 6, and Braylon Snow, 5. During the ceremony, mourners filled the church with prayers, hymns, flowers, and heartfelt tributes while celebrating the young lives that touched so many people.

Relatives shared emotional memories of the children, describing them as loving, joyful, and full of dreams. Community members also expressed support for the surviving family members, promising that the children would never be forgotten.

Local officials and faith leaders encouraged the community to remain united as they continue healing from one of the most heartbreaking events in the city’s history.

According to investigators, the case was connected to Shamar Elkins, who authorities said was responsible for the incident before later d!3ng following a confrontation with law enforcement.

Officials stated that the investigation has been completed, and community leaders continue focusing on supporting the affected families.
